Getting Started

We appreciate your interest in the Sleep Clinic at Summit Center for Health. Need an appointment? Don’t hesitate to arrange one today to get started on that healthy sleeping pattern you once enjoyed.

If you’d like, review our website to find out more about sleep disorders and their related symptoms. While this isn’t mandatory, it may jog your memory so that you can discuss your specific issues with the team.

Next, call us at (630) 282-6000 to ask any questions about the clinic, and/or to schedule a visit with a member of our medical team.

If you already know when you’ll be staying over for a sleep study, feel free to arrange a tour of the sleep clinic so that you’ll have a better sense of what to expect.

Depending on whether this is your first visit with the Sleep Clinic at Summit Center for Health, we may request you bring in a printed “new patient packet,” which includes patient forms, when you come for your appointment. If that’s not convenient, feel free to obtain them from our staff when you arrive, and fill them out then.

What To Expect During Consultation

One of our physicians will ask you to explain your sleep challenges, as well as describe specific symptoms. You’ll also get a chance to explain the challenges of your work and home life, and specific concerns you have about your lack of proper rest. This is also a good chance to discuss whether certain treatments will work with your lifestyle.

You and the doctor will then decide together whether you’re a good candidate for a sleep study, and what that entails. If you are, the physician will help you arrange the session with other members of the team.

This will also be the time for the staff to help you gain a pre-authorization with your insurance company. Most carriers will cover the procedure, but our administrative personnel can act as a liaison to ensure the process goes smoothly.

After arranging pre-authorization, the last step is simply to confirm the date that works best for you, as well as to go over what you’ll need to bring with you. Whatever your busy life throws at you, chances are we can find a way to make the sleep study work with your schedule.

The Big Day (er, night!)

We’ll call you prior to your scheduled visit to remind you of your appointment, and confirm when the best time to check in is. You’ll be admitted during the evening, have a chance to tour the clinic, and speak with the sleep clinic technician about what will happen during the study. (It’s natural to feel vulnerable when you’ll be sleeping through a medical test, so ask as many questions about the process as you wish.)

You’ll be gently awakened the next morning, with plenty of time to get on with your day. Our team will provide your physician with a diagnosis after evaluating the lab results. From there, you can discuss potential treatment options for getting back into a healthy sleep pattern.

If you have concerns prior to your consultation or sleep study, it may help to check out our FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions page. Or call us at (630) 282-6000.
